Memorial services for Billy Hill, 84, of Wills Point, are scheduled for 11:00am, Friday, February 5, 2010, at Hiett's LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point, with Rev. Darrell Coats officiating.
Billy passed away on February 2, 2010, in a Dallas Hospital.
Willace “Billy” Denman Hill was born December 17, 1925, in Edgewood, TX, to Willace Denman and Ina Ruth Slaughter Hill. He grew up in Grand Saline and graduated from Grand Saline High School in 19 42. Billy had a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Texas and his career allowed him and his family to live in various states and also in Switzerland for four years. He served his country in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Electronics Technician, 1st Class. Like his father, Billy loved flying; he restored antique aircraft and won National Grand Champion for his WACO Taperwing. On June 10, 1998, Billy married Lucy Durrett Turpin. They moved to Wills Point to make their home on October 1, 2003. He was a member of Van Zandt County Historical Society and Russell Memorial United Methodist Church.
Billy is survived by his wife, Lucy Turpin Hill of Wills Point; daughters, Cynthia Lee Hill and husband, Steven Beckendorf of Berkeley, CA and Mary Elizabeth Hill and husband, Sonny Poarch of Wiersdale, FL; step-son, Charles Buck and wife, Rebecca of Farmers Branch; brothers, Thomas “Tommy” Hill and wife, Jenny of Addison; sister-in-law, Jane Webber and husband, Bob, of Dallas; and grandchildren, Lillian Buck and Katie Buck.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home, Thursday evening, 6:00-8:00pm
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Van Zandt County Historical Society, P.O. Box 252, Canton, TX 75103, or Russell Memorial United Methodist Church, 201 S. 4th St, Wills Point, TX 75169.

Billy was the brother I always wanted. He was a wonderful individual and all who made the effort to know him saw the fine man he was. He was a good, loving father and husband. Our lives were enriched when he joined our family. God Bless You Billy. Our love to Lucy, Cindy, and Mary Beth.
